For some individuals, a belief in God or at least a supreme being, brings them comfort. For others, they see spirituality in nature or everyday events. This peace of mind was once present in addicts residing in drug rehab centers. For those individuals who found comfort in their beliefs before they became addicted to drugs, there are facilities that stress a spiritual recovery as well as a physical recovery.

A drug rehab center that stresses a spiritual approach should have counselors or therapists on staff who know how to incorporate spirituality into their counseling sessions. This an be very effective for individuals who were spiritual before becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol. This approach can be less effective however, on those who were never spiritual. This is why it is so important for an addict to go for help at a facility that matches their belief system. There are facilities that stress a non 12 tep program that does not mention a belief in a higher power. These type of programs are perfectly suited to atheists.

Finding peace is what rehabilitation is all about. Peace can be learning how to cope with life’s problems without taking drugs. If a belief in God works for you, a drug rehab center with a spiritual approach should be effective at rehabilitation and teaching the skills needed to face life without drugs.

Diet, antioxidants, exercise and lifestyle account for 75% of external damage, while the remaining 25% would be attributable to genetic factors.

With the slogan “The skin, internal image,” kicked off the XXXIII National Congress of Dermatology and Venereology, which meets in Salamanca, Spain, a leading specialist until next Saturday.

Experts say that family heritage is no longer an excuse for aging skin. Other factors related to lifestyle seem to be more decisive in the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of skin damage, such as thickening of the skin, lack of elasticity, pigmentation disorders, and others.

Nor is concerned to combat wrinkles at any price, since “they are a consequence of life itself,” said the expert of Clinical Salamanca. These wrinkles can be dynamic or expression, or static. In the latter case, appear on the face due to loss of elastic fibers and decreased collagen that is going to manifest in the natural folds and areas photoexposed.

Skin, internal image

Procedures to conceal them, mitigate or eliminate signs of aging are many, as explained by Dr. Guadalupe Fernandez, a dermatologist at the Clinical Hospital of Salamanca.

However, there is always recourse to the dermatologist, which is the only right specialist to recommend among the arsenal of topical or surgical treatments, use of botulinum toxin or laser oblative or Oblates. Treatment should be tailored according to this specialist, the patient in order to “get the rejuvenation without changing the personality and identity.”

The treatment of atopic eczema involves different steps:

* Exclusion of the causes of allergy,
* Cosmetic treatment,
* Treatment of stress
* Drug therapy orally
* Treatment of itching,
* Anti-inflammatory treatments or outbreaks,
* Treatment of superinfections,
* Pharmacotherapy topic
* Phototherapy,
* New immunomodulators.

Exclusion of Allergy Causes

In this case they are referred to the food exclusion diets to which the patient is sensitized by mechanisms of allergy.
Also environmental control measures to reduce the content of house dust mites.

Cosmetic Treatment

The patient with atopic eczema have dry skin and prone to a very annoying itch due to xerosis. An excellent way to moisturize the skin is the body daily baths. Although the bath with warm water and relieves the itching if the benefit is significantly better if the water is added in solution or suspension, powder, oats or certain formulas with soft tar. The ideal time is the evening bath. After the bath is appropriate to apply emollient body cream. Most contain urea or lactic acid at different concentrations. Treatment of Atopic Eczema

Stress Treatment

Atopic eczema outbreaks can be induced or exacerbated by emotional stress, states of distress or anxiety and stress. The doctor with the ability to grasp situations and evaluate them, can help a lot with good psychotherapy. That is why this justified the use of tranquilizers with the traditional allergy.

Oral Drug Therapy for

* Corticosteroids for systemic: They are useful in very acute cases, appropriate dose, to break the cycle: itching, scratching, eczema, itching. Should be used for short periods, consistent with the basic conditions that are linked to their use. Not be used as maintenance therapy.

* By systemic antihistamines: These drugs should never be used topically. Can be used alone or in combination. Useful combinations of a new generation antihistamine (cetirizine, desloratadine, rupatadine, etc …) during the day with a classic antihistamine (hydroxyzine, chlorpheniramine) at night.

* Antibiotic therapy: The use of antibiotics by general and topical eczema is necessary in superinfection. Atopic eczema is rarely superinfection. Doing so is particularly hemolytic streptococci. However, frequently, Staphylococcus aureus colonizes the plaques of eczema.

* Immunomodulators: Cyclosporin A is orally active in the treatment of atopic eczema in adults and children. It is generally used at doses of 2.5-5 mg / kg / day for short periods of time.

* Lipid Supplements: Use oral or Trans-unsaturated fatty acids Omega-6 from vegetable oil such as evening primrose (evering prime rose oil) or other vegetables rich in ac. Gammalineleico linoleic and help improve dry skin, relieve itching and reduce inflammation eczema.

Topical Drug Therapy

* Moist compresses: Used in healing open two to four times a day. They recommended the saline solution, potassium permanganate.

* Bathrooms: One or two baths a day, in complete and total immersion bath for twenty minutes, are very effective for soothing dry skin and pruritus. Colloids are used oats or certain pitches to dissolve in water.

* Emollients: These are the ideal for after bathing, but can also be used without Several times a day. Contain urea and lactic different concentrations. Children do not tolerate the carrying urea. There are many on the market in different galenic formulations. The emulsions and / or applied after the bath, with skin still wet, are especially beneficial.

* Tars: coal tar creams or ointments of 2 to 5% may be as or more effective than topical steroids. Applied especially in areas of chronic eczema or dry. Moreover, complement each other well alternating with steroid creams or ointments.

* Topical corticosteroids: In principle the best topical medications to treat eczema. Their use should always take into account the basic principles to avoid undesirable effects. Should be chosen in relation to the activity of eczema. A very potent topical steroid should be used for a limited number of days. You can then follow with another medium or lower activity. In the face should always be used for the weak and not for long. In some areas, like the folds, areas of thin skin or body regions where the network appears classically “striae distensae” never should be employed to great power.

Phototherapy

The use of ultraviolet but is not useful in all patients, in some severe cases have been effective. Both UVA and UVB. The dose of PUVA (oxoralen + UVA) is used at two or more sessions.

New Immunomodulators

In this group we tacrolimus (Protopic ®) ointment 0.1% (adults) and 0.03% (children), which acts to modulate cell-mediated response (T lymphocytes), and were therefore classified as an immunomodulator (immunosuppressant).

Tacrolimus has been accepted for the short-term and intermittent long-term in moderate and severe dermatitis in adults and children over 2 years who do not respond to conventional treatments.

As a side effect has been observed an increased incidence of superficial infections of herpes virus, folliculitis and acne.

Not recommended sunbathing or tanning in the active treatment with tacrolimus. Often results in itching and burning skin erythema at the application site that usually disappears with the maintenance of treatment.

Efficacy of Tacrolimus is similar to steroids but has the advantage of not producing on these skin atrophy and therefore can be given about the injuries for longer periods.

Another is the topical immunomodulator pimecrolimus (Elidel ®) has efficacy similar to above, has the advantage of being able to manage after 3 months of age, not cause local burning and its formulation in cream (1%), which makes more tolerable and more convenient than the ointment.

Recent studies estimate that 25% of the population of developed countries suffer this evil at some point in their lives.

The most common symptoms are: dry skin, brittle and flaky in the affected area. Itching and burning, sores or blisters, thickening and discoloration of the nails.

This type of fungi, called dermatophytes, thrive in warm, moist areas, so the infection increases in summer time. It is a highly contagious infection that is spread by direct contact with items such as shoes, socks, bedding, carpets and other surfaces such as swimming pools, showers, gyms, saunas and locker rooms, among others.

The disease takes its name probably is more common in athletes by continuous and prolonged use of closed shoes (tennis). It is common for swimmers and suffering soldiers, the most frequent in adult males.
Athlete’s foot: the most frequent mycosis

The infection can spread to the nails, floor and sides of the foot and even the hands. Athlete’s foot or tinea pedis as the doctors call can occur at the same time as other fungal skin infections.

To prevent athlete’s foot is recommended that:

• Dry your feet thoroughly after washing, taking care between the toes.
• Change socks and shoes daily.
• The use of cotton or wool socks.
• Wear breathable natural materials rather than those made with synthetic materials.
• Avoid using tight shoes and / or thick.
• Use sneakers or sandals in swimming pools, public showers, locker rooms, gyms and hotels.
• Dry shoes in the sun when the weather permits, to reduce moisture.
• When at home, prefer shoes with proper ventilation.
• If you often walk barefoot in public places, use an anti-fungal powder or spray daily.

There are a variety of medications for athlete’s foot. Mild infections can be treated with topical products such as ointments, creams, gels, powders or aerosols. In more complicated cases may require the prescription of capsules, tablets or suspensions.

After evaluating ten products facial paint types widely available via the Internet at craft shops or Halloween, the researchers found that:

“The ten facial products containing lead paint, and 6 of 10 had known skin allergens such as nickel, cobalt or chromium, at levels above the recommendations of industry surveys,” said Stacy Malkan, cofounder of the campaign coauthor of the report and author of Not Just a Pretty Face, published in 2007, which talks about potentially dangerous ingredients in cosmetics.

Malkan said the new report that “unfortunately, we found lead in all of them” and according to experts agree the exposure to lead can cause behavioral and developmental problems.

The research found that it had problems with the label as some products claiming to be hypoallergenic, but they were not, while a product “announced in the package as hypoallergenic and nontoxic, and had some of the highest levels of nickel, cobalt and lead, “said Malkan.

Lead found ranged from 0.054 to 0.65 parts per million. Four of the ten products were nickel ranged between 2.1 and 5.9 parts per million, two of ten had cobalt, with levels between 4.8 and 5.5 parts per million. Five of ten had chromium, which ranged from 1.6 to 120 parts per million. According to the report, the levels of each did not exceed the equivalent of one part per million for consumer products.

Expert Recommendations

Dr. Dennis Woo, former chief of pediatrics at the Medical Center Santa Monica-UCLA and Orthopaedic Hospital Santa Monica, California, who reviewed the report, said that using face paint only once a year “is probably not greatly affect health measure, “but said he was surprised the amount of heavy metals were found in face-painting and should further analyze these things, because” there is no reason for these metals are in cosmetics. ”

In contrast, Dr. Wally Ghurabi, chief of emergency services Medical Center Santa Monica-UCLA and Orthopaedic Hospital, believes that even the use of these pictures facial once a year might not be worthwhile. “Parents who are concerned should dispense with these paintings,” he said. If you apply these paints do not do it with care, he said, and put the painting near the eyes or nose, this could cause potential harm.

On the other hand, the FDA recommends that those who despite warnings choose to use this kind of paints a) Follow the directions carefully, including instructions to avoid using products around the eyes. 2) If the face paint smells bad, do not use it because it could be contaminated. 3) Make a test of face painting a few days before use to ensure no allergic reaction will be the same.

Even in the clean and healthy skin may occasionally appear as black dots. All people have had more than one, since they are common. Here are open comedones, dark spots that form when sebum mixes with dead skin cells. They are black because they are very dense. Suffer from oily skin to a greater extent, so that prevention and proper cleaning is essential to prevent its occurrence and to remove existing ones.

Why did they originate?
On the surface of the skin lead to two types of glands: sweat glands, sweat pouring through a tiny hole or pore, and sebaceous associated with a dryer, where the fat comes naturally to the surface of the skin, outlet which is larger, and which is also known as pore. In parts of the forehead, nose and chin sebaceous flow is more abundant, and just filosebáceos dilating ducts. Just to see how to tighten them a bit of fat removed. Which does not flow and obstructs the process of cell renewal. Black spots on the skin

How do I can remove?
The best time to remove them is after a steam bath. Every three days, take a steam bath. The humidity and heat gently expand the pore and release the accumulation of fat.

Before starting the steam bath, wash skin with mild soap or scrub.
There are complete treatments such as purifying masks containing ingredients such as activated charcoal, clay or kaolin, which help clean the dirt in the pores.

They occur when the body receives more energy (heat, chemical or electrical) than it can absorb without injury.

A severe burn can be life threatening and requires immediate medical attention. The severity of the burn depends on the temperature of the medium that caused and duration of exposure. They are primarily skin lesions, but sometimes affects other organs like lungs, heart, kidneys, etc.

The severity of burns is determined by five factors:

Depth of burn: 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.
Extent of burn: Percentage of body area affected.
Condition critical regions: Hands, feet, face and genitals.
Patient age: Under 2 years old or very old.
Overall health of the individual.

Causes. What is produced and how is it produced?

Physical agents
Burns and his Treatment

Solid hot irons, stoves.
Boiling liquids: water, oil, coffee, etc..
Cold: Exposure to extremely low temperatures, local ice unprotected intermediate cooling sprays misused.
Fire, flames directly or solid waste.
Chemical
Gasoline and oil in general.
Acids: hydrochloric, sulfuric etc.
Alkali: Caustic soda, lime or carbide.
Electrical Agents
Electric shocks at different voltages: Cables, electrical appliances, plugs without protection, lightning.
Radioactive agents: solar rays, X rays, infrared radiation.

Burns may be first, second or third degree according to the layers of skin and depth of the damaged tissues.

Is considered first-degree burn that hurts the most superficial layer of the skin. The burn is usually caused by excessive exposure to sunlight. Symptoms include skin redness or erythema, dry skin, intense burning pain, swelling and tenderness discrete affected area.

The second-degree burns are those in which the superficial and intermediate layers of skin are injured. The characteristic symptom is the appearance of blisters. There is intense pain and swelling of the inflamed area.

In third-degree burns are affected all layers of the skin and underlying tissues such as muscles, nerves, tendons and blood vessels may reach the bone. This type of burn is caused by prolonged contact with heat, electricity or caustic elements. The appearance of the skin is stiff in these cases, completely dry and there is pain due to the destruction of the nerve endings. It always requires medical attention early, but the injury is not very extensive.

Apart from this classification are considered serious burns all those who:

Make breathing difficult.
Those located in the head, neck, hands, feet or genitals.
Those that affect children under 2 years or older.
All injuries that include third grade.
Those that affect more than 15% body surface area.
Those that are associated with major trauma.

Any severe burn can be fatal, this requires medical attention as soon as possible.

Treatment

First we have to reassure the victim and her family. Assess the type and severity of burn. You have to cool the burned area for several minutes. It can be done by applying a saline solution or cold water (not ice) on the injury. Do not use ice to cool the burned area or apply creams or ointments because they may interfere with subsequent measurement and medical treatment. Cover the burned area with a bandage or a moist saline solution or cold water clean and secure with a bandage to prevent contamination of the injury.

If they occur in hands or feet, put gauze between the fingers before putting the band. If a victim is conscious and complained of pain is an analgesic and plenty of fluids (oral rehydration salts if possible, to replace losses of water and electrolytes). In any case the patient was transferred to a hospital. When the burns are serious, the victim is unconscious, not breathing and no pulse is to start CPR immediately and seek urgent medical help.

Already at the medical center will be held the general treatment with analgesia and sedation if necessary, referral to an intravenous intake of fluids and electrolytes needed and local treatment of burn consisting of washing, shaving areas hair (with hair), dried with sterile dressings and surgical resection of necrotic tissue and blisters. Once this is decided what type of treatment applied, cure or occlusive exposed.

During the first 72 hours is necessary to monitor vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory function), water balance (revenues of fluids and urine output) and perform some additional tests such as hematocrit (red blood cells), protein (protein ), electrolytes (ions), chest radiograph and electrocardiogram.

Prognosis and complications

The prognosis of burns depends on the location and degree of the same, the extent of body surface affected and the existence of aggravating factors such as age, associated injuries and comorbid diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure, AIDS or other immunosuppressive diseases (which reduce the defenses). The most common complication of burns are localized or generalized infection.

Photosensitivity reactions are those important clinical and produced abnormal, triggered or aggravated by exposure to light, usually sunlight. Unlike fototoxia, skin overreacts and does not play only an increase of tonality, but appear eczema lesions, blistering, etc …

Fototóxia

It is the increased absorption of sunlight by making contact or drugs or chemicals, or sometimes by alterations in the metabolism of persons or in certain diseases. The injuries that occur are the same as sun exposure produces only more intense and appear less exposure time.

1. Fototoxia induced by drugs.

It is a cutaneous adverse reaction due to systemic or topical exposure of a drug and light. The chemicals may be responsible, in addition to drugs, cosmetics and industrial products. The reaction can occur in any individual, is required and dose-dependent, and essentially it is an exaggerated sunburn. It is more common than photoallergic reactions and may also occur at any age and any skin type. Eczematous reaction is not seen in phototoxic reactions. Reactions by the Sun

The drugs involved are:

nalidixic acid, amiodarone, captopril, chlorothiazide, etretinate, phenothiazines (chlorpromazine, promethazine, thioridazine, etc..), furosemide, griseofulvin, naproxen, pyrazinamide, piroxicam, psoralens or furocoumarins, sulfonamides, tetracyclines (especially doxycycline and dimetilclortetraciclina), and derivatives tar.

By eliminating the offending drug, the lesions subside.

2. Drug-induced photosensitivity.

The drug present in the skin absorbs light (especially UV) and forms a photoproduct that binds to proteins to form a complete antigen, which causes the allergic reaction. The lesions of eczema, itchy blisters and oozing deaparición in areas exposed to sunlight, even if exposure persists extieden throughout the body. Photoallergy may persist for months or years despite the absence of contact with the substance responsible.
* Causing general administration:
or Phenothiazines
or Sulfonamides
or group

* The administration of topical:
* halogenated Salicylanilides (deodorants and soaps)
* PABA and derivatives (sunscreens)
* Cinnamates and benzophenones (sunscreens)
* Benzocaine
* neomycin
* Musk Perfume
* thiourea present in the neoprene

For diagnostic tests are used and fotopatch patch test, which is the reproduction of the application, a small portion of the product suspect in the skin for 24 hours and exposure to a UVA lamp to different spectra to reproduce the lesion of eczema.

Allergy Photosensitive by plants (Phytophotodermatitis)

It is a contact dermatitis caused by plants and exposure to sunlight. There is a phototoxic or photoallergic reaction, caused by photosensitizing substances (furocoumarins), present in various plants.

* Plants producing phytophotodermatitis
or Rutaceae: Lima, orange, bitter orange, lemon, bergamot, common rue.
or Umbelliferae: parsley, chervil, celery, parsnips, fennel, dill, carrots,
or Compositae: Yarrow, Yarrow and Chamomile
or Cruciferae: Mustard
or Moraceae: Higueras (only leaf and stem)
or Ranunculaceae: Buttercup
or Rosaceae: Agrimonia
or Legumes: Peas
or hyperactive: St. John’s Wort

It can occur at any age and race. The professions most affected include gardening, horticulture, floriculture, agriculture, etc. It is more common in summer. In the acute phase appears erythema, vesicles and blisters with itching, but no eczema.

There may be a residual pigmentation artificial shapes (lines, etc., Depending on some outside work). The lesions were distributed in areas of contact, especially in the arms and legs. The acute eruption spontaneously yields, but hyperpigmentation may persist for weeks.

Knowing how long you can spend in the sun, without running the risk of ultraviolet rays damage the skin, it is now possible thanks to a system that calculates the appropriate period of exposure to solar radiation, according to the skin of each person and the place where you are.
With this invention seeks to reduce the incidence of skin cancer. “The software determines the maximum recommended exposure to solar UV radiation, including the use of protective creams for people with different skin types displayed at any time and day of the year,” he told EFE Ruben Piacentini, director of Institute of Physics of Argentina’s Rosario city (IFIR), which developed the project.

According to Argentine newspaper Infobae, the system can be installed on any computer and was created with the collaboration of researchers from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, Argentina and the Foundation Skin Cancer.

How to use

For information, the user must enter your skin type, the kind of surface you are (sand, water or cement), time of day and geographic location in which you, as the height or snow can increase the risk of radiation by 60 percent.
Sunbathing die trying

The software was designed to calculate the data anywhere in Argentina, although “you can develop a similar application for another country or region, with the right information,” says Piacentini.

In fact, IFIR has already started negotiations with regional governments and organizations in Ecuador and Brazil to implement this program called UVARG (Software for the prediction of sun exposure in Argentina).

Advantage

“The software allows us to know instantly and in real time the danger of ultraviolet radiation, but also can be predicted months in advance what will be the risk, making it a useful tool to plan vacations to any destination” said the scientist.

Another use would be for employees who perform abroad, because the system tells them what protections they should take.

The system also alerts “on special situations such as the development of the ozone hole or about significant changes in the average value of this layer in future years,” says Piacentini.

The scientists who developed this software tool say that if people respect the times suggested sun exposure reduces the risk of diseases like skin cancer.

Today this evil is the most common cancers and the number of cases is growing at a rate of 5 percent annually, according to international statistics.

Meanwhile, in Argentina each year 600 people die from the disease and are detected 1400 new cases, according to the Sociedad Argentina de Dermatología (SAD).

* Exclusion of the causes of allergy,
* Cosmetic treatment,
* Treatment of stress
* Drug therapy orally
* Treatment of itching,
* Anti-inflammatory treatments or outbreaks,
* Treatment of superinfections,
* Pharmacotherapy topic
* Phototherapy,
* New immunomodulators.

As a side effect has been observed increased incidence of superficial infections of herpes virus, folliculitis and acne.
