What is Hypothyroidism?
Some diseases are called with the front name of hypo and some other have the beginning of hyper term. Hypo means this person has the lack of something related with the following word. When it is called with hyper, this means the person has exceed of something that followed by the next word. For example hypertension, means this person has exceed of tension, hypotension means this person has lack of tension or blood pressure.
This is just the same as for Hypothyroidism. The term hypo is related to thyroids, which means this person has the lack of thyroids hormone. This hormone should have been produced by body according to the instruction of hormone in the pituitary gland that called Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH). But because something went wrong these TSH and TRH cannot give sufficient order and body cannot produce enough thyroid hormone. The reason TSH and TRH didn’t do their job properly, because iodine is not sufficient enough in the body.
The results of thyroid hormone deficiency are seen in many symptoms of hypotheroidism. Some of them are like: pain on muscle and join, feel cold, emotionally instable, depression, constipation, trouble of vision, cannot hear clear, menstrual disorder, decrease in appetite, decrease in perspiration, weight gain, hair loss, trouble in memory, dry skin and tiredness.
